Research Center for Digitalization of Public Services and Citizenship (CEDIC)

CEDIC is an Excellent Academic Environment at Oslo Metropolitan University. The center examines how digitalization influences the provision of welfare state services and modifies capabilities of different social groups and individuals to exercise social citizenship.

Why CEDIC?

Norway is one of the most digitized countries in the world. The population is increasingly connected through electronic platforms, and the transition from analogue to digital systems in the public administration, has a significant social impact. While new digital technologies can make public administration more cost-efficient and accessible, they can lead to a rise of new societal problems such as exclusion, marginalization and increased social differences.

The Research Centre for Digitalization of Public Services and Citizenship (CEDIC) aims to develop multi-disciplinary knowledge about the relationship between digitalization and the provision of welfare services, and the risks of exclusion from the opportunities to enjoy full and effective social citizenship. How do digitalization processes influence the provision of welfare state services? And how do they provide abilities and access for citizens at risk of social exclusion?
