The project will strengthen the China-Norway Partnership in Smart and Sustainable Metropolitan Transport (COMet) between Oslo Metropolitan University (OsloMet), Beijing Jiaotong University (BJTU), and Hunan University (HNU). COMet will also enhance the quality of the master programs in transportation engineering in partner institutions.
In the coming smart and green transport era, China and Norway are two of the most important frontrunners in smart and sustainable transport. Recently, both Norway and China have published ambitious national plans to make transport system safer, smarter and greener. Therefore, both countries need a large number of highly-educated professionals to adjust to the next-generation transport system and speed up the application of new technologies. Therefore, the research and educational collaboration will benefit both countries. COMet is aiming at world-recognizing research and educational collaboration. The main activities of the project include joint research-based courses development, international master program development, student and staff exchange, joint research workshop/summer school, joint student supervision, and development of joint proposals to national and international funding agencies.
COMet will develop a platform to train professionals with the global vision of smart and sustainable transport services and future trends. Meanwhile, the project will develop both education and research competence in Norway and China in smart and sustainable transport by developing joint research-based education activities in the application of multidisciplinary techniques to autonomous driving and transport electrification. The students and staff from Norway and China will be involved in joint educational and research activities and knowledge exchange by increasing mobility.
COMet will build upon and enlarge the research network of the Research Centre of Metropolitan Digitalization and Smartization (MetSmart) and TranFrUrban research group.
