About the Researcher
My name is Jessica Dimka. I was born and raised in Wisconsin (USA). I received my Ph.D. in Anthropology from the University of Missouri in 2015. I am interested in studying how human behaviors, relationships, and social conditions affect the spread and outcomes of infectious disease epidemics. My dissertation looked at these questions for a small fishing village in Newfoundland during the 1918 flu pandemic. As a graduate student, I also was a research assistant on a project that studied how clothing can limit participation and engagement for people with disabilities. This current project is an exciting way for me to combine these two interests.
