Objectives
WP3 delivers the digital backbone of FORWARD.
It creates a cloud-based infrastructure that enables data sharing, open learning, and advanced research tools even when universities are damaged or displaced.
WP3 aims to:
- Deploy a cloud-based infrastructure hosting the data repository and the online learning platform.
- Integrate VR-based tools, AI, and data analysis services to enable immersive and data-driven training.
- Train IT staff and administrators in Palestine and Ukraine to operate and maintain the infrastructure.
- Develop a sustainability plan to secure long-term operation beyond the project duration.
Tasks
T3.1 – Cloud Infrastructure Setup
IUG deploys a secure and scalable cloud infrastructure hosting the data repository and e-learning platform.
Palestinian and Ukrainian partners test functionality and provide feedback.
T3.2 – Data Repository Deployment
IUG configures a FAIR-compliant urban resilience data repository with API integration and advanced search.
OsloMet Library supports Dataverse configuration, while partners test and refine features.
T3.3 – VR, AI & Data Analysis Integration
Advanced tools are integrated into the platform, including VR simulations, AI-supported learning, and data analysis tools.
NMBU conducts two hybrid 5-day technical training sessions at ANNU for developers from ANNU and IUG.
T3.4 – Online Learning Platform Deployment
A modern learning platform (e.g., Open edX) is configured with VR-lab integration and multimedia support, enabling interactive training for students in war-affected universities.
T3.5 – Infrastructure Training
A 3-day online training program builds capacity of 18 trainees (9 from Palestine, 9 from Ukraine) in:
system management, FAIR compliance, troubleshooting, sustainability strategies, and AI integration.
T3.6 – Sustainability Plan & Handover
A sustainability plan defines governance, funding, and maintenance strategies.
Ownership of the infrastructure is handed over to partner universities in Palestine and Ukraine.
T3.7 – Quality Assurance of WP3
POLIMI, OsloMet, and all partners carry out QA evaluations of all WP3 components to ensure stability, usability, FAIR compliance, and VR/AI operational readiness.
T3.8 – Dissemination of WP3 Outputs
Project website and social media channels share WP3 milestones, demonstrations, training sessions, and deployment outcomes.
Deliverables
D3.1 – Fully Operational Cloud Infrastructure & User Manual
A deployed cloud system including:
- FAIR-compliant data repository
- Online learning platform
- VR-based tools and AI services
Delivered with a ~50-page user manual and validated by deployment reports and partner testing.
D3.2 – Training Report & Sustainability Plan
A report summarising the training sessions and a sustainability plan detailing long-term hosting, governance, funding, and maintenance.
