MULIG TEMA FOR OPPGAVE:
Discrimination, Identity, Social Support and Mental Health/Quality of Life

FORELIGGENDE DATA/ EVT. MULIGHET FOR INNSAMLING AV EGNE DATA:
We recruited 16-17 years old students at eight high schools in Oslo and Viken. The data collection
took place from the spring of 2023 and completed in the spring of 2024. On these schools all pupils
in the first grade (VG1) were invited to participate. In total, 829 pupils conducted a digital survey
during school time.

MÅL/PROBLEMSTILLINGER:

  • How does perceived discrimination affect the mental health/quality of life of young people
with immigrant backgrounds compared to those without?
  • What role does social support play in mitigating the effects of discrimination on mental
health/quality of life in immigrant and non-immigrant youth?
  • Are there significant differences in mental health/quality of life outcomes between young
people with and without immigrant backgrounds based on their experiences of
discrimination and levels of social support and identity?
