Interns from Western Canada

This spring semester, we had two interns, Lauren McNair and Abigail Springham working on the ViKom project. They carried out semi-structured interviews with both formal and informal caregivers from different regions in Norway to examine perceptions of loneliness among older adults, understand caregiving workflows, assess the role of social technologies, and gather input on the current ViKom prototypes.

Our goal was to gain deeper insight into older adults’ needs and collect feedback on the prototypes’ strengths, limitations, and usability. After coding the interviews, thematic analysis was conducted to identify insights that will guide future prototype development.

After six weeks in Norway and several weeks of remote work with our team, we are deeply grateful for everything they brought to the project and wish them the very best in what comes next.
