Welfare state life courses: Social inequalities in the co-evolution of employment, health and critical life events (WELLIFE).

WELLIFE* is a multidisciplinary Nordic collaboration researching inequalities in health and opportunities in the Nordic welfare states, and how they unfold over individuals’ life courses.

Our project is funded by Nordforsk and uses a decentralised database consisting of health and social data from the Nordic administrative registers

*The short form, WELLIFE, reflects the interest of this project in how the welfare state structures human life. However, it also signals the ultimate aim of welfare state, namely to secure well-being over the life course. The name further hints that the welfare state can be viewed as a well, although not inexhaustible, from which collective resources flow and interact with individual resources and life events.
