The International Doctoral Program in Intercultural Higher Education in Contexts of Buen Vivir commenced in February 2022, enrolling 28 students from Indigenous, Afro-descendant, and mestizo communities of Colombia, Mexico, Nicaragua, Ecuador and Bolivia.
The SIICHER NORHED II project has defined six main outcomes:
(i) to strengthen quality and relevance of indigenous, intercultural and communitarian higher education and research programme and methods,
(ii) to strengthen indigenous, intercultural and communitarian higher education and research systems,
(iii) an increased capacity and competence of staff and students from indigenous, intercultural and communitarian universities of RUIICAY,
(iv) an improved gender equality and inclusion of marginalized groups in higher education and research,
(v) an improved institutional small-scale infrastructure and equipment for intercultural education and research, and
(vi) an increased engagement with relevant stakeholders, and dissemination of knowledge.
