Unscripted session

The SDG conference 2026 is entitled “Education Unscripted: The Quest for Truth, Collaborative Transformation & Solidarity”.

In this session we would like to engage you in a mosaic of activities connected to the conference theme. What is it to truly “unscript” something as scripted as education systems, policies and governance, curricula, courses and programs?

We believe that it takes you – engaging in dialogue with others. Here and now. We are so fortunate to have the magnificent Oslo City Hall as the conference venue on the first day. We therefore encourage you to use all spaces available, to engage in dialogue of the matters that are important to you. And to stay courageous in the process.

Visit the Weaving Frame Installation in “Munchrommet” and respond to the question “What colours are education and lifelong learning Beyond 2030?”. The adjacent rooms are perfect for engaging in dialogue with people you’ve known for ages, and people you’ve met today. Sit down, relax and enjoy the atmosphere of the Library and Hardråderommet. Learn more about the Weaving installation here (uni.oslomet.no).

Visit the “Voices Left Behind” exhibition in “Kroghrommet”, reflect on the statements of youth, indigenous activists, children and young people with disabilities, students in war zones and conflict, and respond to the question: “What education policies are we missing?”. Walk the halls in solitude or silence, respond to the magnitude of the art and the statements of voices that are too often left out when education policies are made.

On your tables in Bankettsalen you find a selection of “What if” statements meant to provoke and ignite conversation between you throughout the day. If you want to walk with any of these, you can wear it with the lanyard in the breaks and use it as a conversation starter or write your own What if statement. What if you meet someone unknown to you, that have the same What if statement on their chest? Are you brave enough to engage?

The unscripted session also invites you to question or challenge the two panels that will mark the end of today’s streamed program. If you have a burning issue or provocation that you would like them to respond to, please use one of the blank cards on the tables. Write down your message and add it to the Q&R wall just outside the Bankettsalen. Please mark to which panel – 1 or 2 in session 4 – you would like the question to be directed at, and we will select one question for each panel. Here you can also “heart” your favourite question posed by others. Enjoy!
