You are invited also to initiate and self-organize events during the SDG Conference 2026
Oslo Metropolitan University and the National Committee for Sustainability in Higher Education invite you to collaborate in putting education, partnership and sustainability on the agenda. The SDG Conference 2026, entitled “Education Unscripted: The Quest for Truth, Collaborative Transformation & Solidarity”, will take place over two days, 2-3 February 2026. On the second day, Tuesday 3 February, we would like to co-create the conference with you – wherever you are located.
We encourage organisations, associations, companies, institutions, project and student groups or teams that wish to participate with their own events (physical, hybrid, digital) during the conference’s open day to submit a short description of the theme, with a title, time, place and organiser here. We will get back to you!
If you want to organize an event that takes place at Deichmann Bjørvika or other locations in Oslo that the host OsloMet is responsible for, the deadline to submit is January 9 2026.
What kind of events are we looking for? The heading for self-organised parallel sessions is The future is sustainable!. The aim is to bring about a diversity of desirable, sustainable futures and paths towards them, rather than a ‘business as usual’ future characterised by injustice, crises and exploitation of nature and people. Events that open up discussions about future-oriented practices and alternative worldviews of change are most welcome. We are particularly interested in activities related to
- formal, informal and surprising arenas for education and learning
- lifelong and ‘life-wide’ learning
- tacit or overlooked knowledge
- freedom of expression and academic freedom
- alternative partnerships
- art, dance, music and performance
- or topics, formats and collaborations that we haven’t thought about – but you think fits within the conference concept and scope
We particularly encourage student-driven and youth-initiated events.
We offer the following resources to make it easy to participate:
- Free graphic material to download
- Ideas for activities and discussion topics
- Link to your event on the SDG conference website
- Inspiration from the first day of the conference, Monday 2 February at 10:00-16:30 in Oslo City Hall (will be streamed)
- Open registration for the conference opening event on Tuesday 3 February at 9:00-11:00 at Deichman Bjørvika, Oslo (limited space, will be streamed)
- Opportunity to have a participant from the conference student team sent to your local event to convey the main points to a joint summary/statement from the conference
- Opportunity to borrow premises at Deichman Bjørvika, Oslo (various meeting rooms, stage) and possibly other premises in the city centre area
