Research Projects

CONSTIN

Full title: Effect of corrosion on the steel-to-concrete interaction
Financing: Department of Built Environment, OsloMet
Total budget: 200,000.00 NOK
Project period: 1st January 2019 – 30st June 2021 (2.5 years)

Dr. Kioumarsi is the project manager.

Participating institutionsOslo Metropolitan University, Norway; University of Niccolò Cusano, Italy.

The research aims to investigate the influence of the concrete cover on the decay of the bond strength in reinforced concrete elements damaged by corrosion. The experimental survey has planned the realization of two types of specimens of different cover-to-diameter ratios but characterized by the same bar diameter and concrete material properties.

OPTION

Full title: Effect of corrosion on prestressed reinforced concrete beam
Financing: Department of Built Environment, OsloMet
Total budget: 200,000.00 NOK
Project period: 1st January 2019 – 30th June 2021 (2.5 years)

Dr. Kioumarsi is the project manager.

Participating institutionsOslo Metropolitan University, Norway; University of Niccolò Cusano, Italy; Tor Vergata University, Italy.

The OPTION project aims to conduct full-scale experimental tests to investigate the effect of corrosion on the residual flexural capacity of the corroded prestressed reinforced concrete beams.

TRANSFORM

What is the aim of the Transform project?

The goals of this project are to (1) establish long-life cooperation between the OsloMet—Oslo Metropolitan University and Iowa State University (ISU), (2) implement multi-year student/staff exchange and mobility between two partners, (3) develop adaptable educational modules with an open course/accessible model, and (4) involve relevant industry leaders from both countries to guide and mentor the involved students and staff members. These goals are linked to the common research interest of connecting a fundamental understanding of building and construction materials to the practical considerations essential for the design of high-performance buildings and bridges that meet sustainability and resiliency goals.

Project number: UTF-2020/10107
Financing:
Direktoratet for høyere utdanning og kompetanse (HK-dir)
Total budget:
3,000,000.00 NOK
Project period:
1st August 2021 – 31st July 2025 (4 years)

Dr. Mahdi Kioumarsi is the coordinator of the Transform project. He is an Associate Professor at the Department of Built Environment of OsloMet—Oslo Metropolitan University and an Associate Professor at the Department of Engineering of Østfold University in Norway.
