Seminar: Marco Matassa

It is a pleasure to invite you all to a MatMod / QHub / REGAL seminar by Marco Matassa from the Department of Computer Science at Oslo Metropolitan University.

Actions on tensor products and Kashiwara’s crystals

Abstract:  I will give a simple overview, based on examples, of how various algebraic structures act on tensor products. After looking at the familiar examples of Lie groups and Lie algebras, I will discuss the example of the quantized enveloping algebra of sl2 This serves as a motivation to introduce the idea of Kashiwara’s crystals, and see them in action (no pun intended) in simple examples. I will discuss how this gives a new perspective on the old problem of decomposing a tensor product into irreducible components.
