Pernille Aaby

PhD Fellow

Pernille is a PhD student at the Faculty of Technology, Art and Design at Oslo Metropolitan University. She completed her master’s degree at Oslo Metropolitan University in 2022, investigating contextual word embeddings—methods that allow computers to understand the meaning of words based on the context in which they appear, similar to how humans interpret language differently depending on the situation. She has worked as a developer in the public sector and enjoys explaining how language models and the systems around them work. Her PhD project focuses on designing a Digital Expert Twin—an AI expert based on retrieval-augmented generation—to support evidence-based spinal pain management.
