Short Project Description

The PAINMENT project investigates the long-term impact of adverse experiences in childhood and adolescence (AECA) on adult health care use, particularly for co-occurring musculoskeletal pain and mental distress. Utilizing comprehensive data from the Young-HUNT 1 and 3 cohorts and Norwegian national health registries, the project employs trajectory modelling to understand the development and interrelations of these conditions over a 12-year period. Additionally, the project examines resilience and social capital as potential buffering factors that could mitigate the negative health impacts associated with AECA. Insights from the study aim to inform preventive strategies and interventions that address gender-specific differences and promote health equity.
