Ruter # joins the DISCo project as a stakeholder in the project’s second year. Ruter will give insight to WP2’s qualitative analyses on mobility in Norway, WP3’s mobility survey and participate in the co-creation workshops in WP4.
Ruter – Oslo’s transportation authority
Ruter AS is the public transportation authority for the Oslo and Viken regions in Norway. Established in 2008, Ruter is responsible for planning, coordinating, and managing public transportation services, including buses, trams, trains, ferries, and the metro within the region. The company collaborates with various transport operators to ensure seamless and efficient services for passengers. Ruter is currently exploring how micromobility can be combined with other forms of travel as part of a sustainable mobility offering.
Ruter among the first to introduce a multi-modal route planner
Ruter is known for its focus on sustainability, aiming to reduce emissions and promote environmentally friendly transport solutions, such as the electrification of its bus fleet and the integration of digital ticketing systems. The metropolitan area, encompassing Oslo and Akershus counties, is overseen by Ruter, an authority recognized for its innovation in customer service and information. Ruter was among the first to introduce a multi-modal route planner, enhancing the efficiency and convenience of public transportation for its users.
