CEDIC Talks Jan 30, 2025: Remote Care and Hospital Services at Home

Welcome to the first CEDIC Talk of 2025, where we will discuss remote care and hospital services at home. Are we radically innovative enough? January 30 fram 14:00-16:00. NB: In Norwegian.

Theme: The government aims for more elderly people to live at home longer and receive specialized healthcare services in their homes. In this edition of CEDIC Talks, we discuss what it will take to achieve this goal.

Program: Seven speakers from different sectors will share their perspectives on the topic. The speakers will then participate in a panel debate, where the audience can contribute input and ask questions. There will also be an artistic surprise!

Short presentations:

  • Sustainable Healthcare Services: What Challenges Do Municipalities Face?
    Trude Hartviksen is the Head of Research in Vestvågøy Municipality. She is an occupational therapist with a PhD in professional practice.
    Linda Mari Tahir is the Unit Manager for Home Care Services in the Søndre Nordstrand District. She has several years of leadership experience in healthcare and as a psychiatric nurse.
  • Trust in Times of Change for Healthcare Services: What Are the Challenges and How Can They Be Addressed?
    Sharmini Alagaratnam is the Proigram Director of DNV’s Healthcare Research Program, which addresses challenges related to data sharing, infrastructure, legal requirements, and trust in the use of digital technologies in the healthcare sector. She also leads the Norwegian Polytechnic Society’s Health Forum, a forum for interdisciplinary debate and discussion on healthcare, digitalization, societal security, sustainability, and socioeconomics.
  • Ensuring Proper Communication Between Hospitals and Homes:
    Vidar Brein Karlsen is the Director of Community Relations at Norsk Helsenett. He has extensive political experience and served as State Secretary in the Ministry of Justice and Public Security under the Solberg government. He later worked as Director of Government Relations and Communication for the telecommunications company Huawei.
  • Competence and Knowledge Transfer via Health Technology:
    Kristil Håland is the founder and CEO of Jodacare, a platform for collaboration between healthcare professionals and relatives. In her talk, she will discuss the use of technology in the home and how it eases the strain on healthcare services.
  • Can Machines Be Taught to Care? Opportunities and Barriers to Technology in Developing Future Healthcare Services:
    Margrethe Kristiansen is a project manager at the consultancy firm WSP. Based in WSP’s Tromsø office, she supports several northern municipalities in strengthening and developing more sustainable health and care services.
  • Prerequisites for Safe Aging at Home:
    Heidi Gautun is a Research Professor at the department of Ageing Research and Housing Studies, Norwegian Social Research (NOVA), OsloMet. Her research includes family care for the elderly and collaboration between municipalities and hospitals regarding health and care services for the elderly.

The subsequent panel debate will be moderated by Marit Haldar, Professor of Sociology at OsloMet and the Director of CEDIC, and Eivind Engebretsen, Professor of Interdisciplinary Health Sciences at the University of Oslo
