The Norwegian Research School on Digitalization, Culture, and Society (DIGIT)

The idea of creating a Norwegian Research School on Digitalization, Culture, and Society emerged following the Covid-19 pandemic outbreak in 2020, which triggered widespread digitalization measures. The scientific communities in Norway that conduct social and cultural studies of digital technologies are fragmented. The founders of DIGIT aimed to overcome this fragmentation by bringing together humanities and social sciences with non-academic partners to facilitate dialogue.

DIGIT is hosted by the Centre of the study of digitalization of public services and citizenship (CEDIC) at Oslo Metropolitan University. The research school is funded by the Research Council of Norway.

The research school admits up to thirty highly qualified PhD candidates and postdoctoral fellows each year until 2028. The first class enrolled in autumn 2022
