The Norwegian Minister of Foreign Affairs Ine Eriksen Søreide came to OsloMet to open the seminar A right to know. How can we ensure reliable information in times of crisis? Thursday 2 October 2020. 

Rector Curt Rice received her and welcomed the seminar – which had to be online, due to the current spreading of the corona virus in Oslo.

She also moderated the panel, after the showing of five short videos made by JMICs partners in Palestine, Uganda, Tunisia, Indonesia and Bangladesh.  

In the panel were the new Special Rapporteur on the promotion and protection of freedom of opinion and expression Irene Khan, Director: Strategies and policies in the field of communication and information in UNESCO, Guy Berger, Executive Director International Media Support (IMS) Jesper Højberg, Director Facebook Oversight Board Administration Thomas Hughes and Abeer Saady, war and conflict journalist, researcher and media consultant for JMIC. 

319 viewers attended the streaming in real time. It was recorded. The seminar was a cooperation between the Norwegian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, UNESCO, IMS and JMIC/OsloMet.
