Ten journalists from North Africa participated in a workshop on Access to Information in Tunis from 6 to 8 September.
Journalists from Algeria, Tunisia, Morocco and Libya participated in an interactive training with experts on Access to Information and Investigation where they learned new methodologies to help them carry out future projects in the next three months after attending this workshop.
During the training, a range of projects was discussed covering the topics of immigration, environment, society and other important issues in their countries.
Primus engine for the project is investigative journalist and trainer Hanene Zbiss from the Tunisian Association for Investigative Journalism (TAIJ).
Article 19 MENA (Middle East and North Africa) arranged the training together with TAIJ and JMIC. The workshop is a follow-up of Article 19’s former courses in journalism, access to public information and investigative journalism.
The Norwegian researcher and freelance journalist Ole Dag Kvamme and the Moroccan journalist and trainer Anass Bendrif participated on behalf of JMIC/OsloMet. Also Nejib Mokni from UNESCO contributed.
The training will be followed up by a production period, in which every participant will work on project-story within three months. During this period, journalists will be supervised by a mentor. At the end of the project, an award ceremony would be organised and prizes will be attributed to the best work.
