Access to information and investigative journalism in Pakistan
Hundreds of people came for the the opening of the seminar Strengthening investigative journalism in Pakistan at the University of the Punjab in Lahore 14 October.
Local organizers were Association of Media and Communication Academic Professionals (AMCAP).
Policy makers, media, and academia were informed, sensitized and pursued to the concept and operations for access to information. They shred their views, ideas, concerns and future road map. Also a representative from the UNESCO office in Islamabad was present.
The seminar led to a stronger commitment to the concept of access to information and its utilization in investigative journalism for democracy, human rights and social justice, according to the organizers.
Access to information and strengthening of investigative journalism have positive effect on the all the sustainable development goals, but it is directly related to SDG number 10 and 16 i.e. Reduced Inequality and Peace, Justice and Strong Institutions.
