SAFETY TRAINING DURING CONFLICT IN IRAQ
JMIC organized a digital safety training at Anbar University in western Iraq with 32 participants 24 February.
The Iraqi Chapter of International Association of Women in Radio and Television (IAWRT) was also part of the cooperation, led by JMIC´s safety trainer Abeer Saady.
The violence continues in Iraq, and the pandemic has hit hard: According to Awaz Salim Abdullah, head of the Iraqi chapter of IAWRT:
“The journalist at the time of corona suffers more, because of the fatigue and the risks she faces by constantly mixing with a large number of people to cover the news”.
And Dr. Omar Chiad Ali at Anbar University:
“We consider this cooperation very important for us because of it´s benefit in the field of gaining expertise in relation to our journalistic work, especially as we work in the midst of crises, and unfortunately due to the lack of experience, we lost many journalists and exposed others to violence and threats.”
