ABOUT
Sofiia is a Cold War historian specializing in transnational history, migration history, and Ukrainian nation-building. Her current PhD project analyzes the construction of Ukrainian identity among post-World War II displaced persons and their descendants in the U.S., examining how it has been transformed by the Cold War’s geopolitical and ideological circumstances. Combining approaches from migration history and heritage studies, she traces the continuity of identity across urban and suburban landscapes in the U.S. Drawing on her interdisciplinary background and proficiency in Ukrainian, Russian, and Norwegian, Sofiia aims to situate Ukrainian studies within the broader Cold War context.
