Call for abstracts

The UKRAINETT + Conference 2026 titled State and Society Under Pressure: Internal and External Dynamicswill take place at the Oslo Metropolitan University (OsloMet) on 11 – 12 November. The deadline for submitting a paper or panel proposal is 15 May 2026. The call for abstracts is now open.


Topics

We welcome papers from different disciplines within the social sciences and humanities addressing these or other relevant topics:

  • Ukraine and the changing international order
  • Foreign support for Ukraine: political, economic and military dimensions
  • Democratic resilience and governance
  • Political parties, political leadership and elite dynamics
  • Social cohesion, identities and emerging social cleavages
  • Local governance, municipalities and regional resilience
  • War, displacement and migration: refugees, internally displaced persons and return
  • Economic transformation, labour markets and reconstruction
  • Civil society, volunteering and societal mobilisation
  • Media, information warfare and narratives about the war
  • Justice, accountability and post-war recovery
  • Politics of memory
  • Cultural resistance and recovery

Requirements for paper and panel proposals

Once you open the call for abstracts form, it is not possible to save the form and continue filling it in later; the entire form must be completed in one go. Therefore, please make sure you have prepared the following:

  1. Abstract(s) (250 – 400 words per paper/ 500 – 1000 words per panel)
  2. Title of panel/paper
  3. 3 keywords describing the panel/paper
  4. Short biography of participant(s) (100 words per person)
  5. Full name, affiliation, and e-mail address of all panel participants/attending co-authors

You may propose either an individual presentation or a panel consisting of several presentations. The time frame for individual presentations is 20 minutes + 10 minutes for Q&A, and for panels 90 minutes including presentations and discussion.

Please list all participants in the panel when filling in the form, including the chair and discussant (if you wish to have one). Panel speakers may also act as chairs. Each panel may include a minimum of 3 and a maximum of 4 speakers.

If you submit an individual presentation, you will be included in a panel with other individual presentations according to your theme. Applicants who intend to submit both an individual paper proposal and a panel proposal must complete and submit each proposal using its own separate form.


Travel grants

We have a limited number of travel grants to support Ukraine-based researchers who are able to leave Ukraine, as well as Ukrainian refugee scholars in Norway and elsewhere in Europe who lack institutional funding for travel.

This is primarily a conference for in‑person attendance, but we allow digital participation for participants from Ukraine who are unable to travel.


Workshop “Futures of the Norwegian-Ukrainian Cooperation: Year 2036 (Nord University)

Following the UKRAINETT+ Conference, Nord University Business School will organize the workshop “Futures of the Norwegian-Ukrainian Cooperation: Year 2036” on 13 November at OsloMet. For more information about the workshop, please visit the website

The workshop is limited to 30 participants. Early registration is recommended, as places will be allocated on a first-come, first-served basis. All workshop participants will receive funding for an additional night of accommodation, as well as a dinner with the other workshop participants.
