Clarifying the Legal Frameworks for Investment, EU Integration, and Accountability in Ukraine (28 April)

The UA-KLAR project aims to increase understanding within Norwegian society of the legal frameworks for investment in Ukraine and of Ukraine’s relationship with the EU, and to examine issues of justice and accountability for international crimes and human rights violations committed during the war in Ukraine.

Associate Professor of Law Gaiane Nuridzhanian (UiT) leads the project, with Professor of Law Liliia Oprysk (UiB) and Professor of Law Yuliya Chernykh (INN) as members of the project group.

Through the kick-off seminar, the project group aims to invite various stakeholders working on Ukraine-related issues in non-governmental organizations, the public sector, and private enterprises to highlight their experiences, perspectives, and knowledge needs that can contribute to the project’s further development.

Participants are encouraged to share their reflections on one or more of the project’s three main themes: what knowledge is needed in Norwegian society to better understand (1) the regulation of investment in Ukraine, (2) Ukraine’s relations with the EU, and (3) justice and accountability for atrocity crimes and human rights violations committed during the war.

The discussion will be enriched by contributions from members of the Advisory Board:

  • Professor Christophe Hillion (University of Oslo)
  • Kjartan Svaland Tveitnes (Norwegian-Ukrainian Chamber of Commerce)
  • Lene Wetteland (Norwegian Helsinki Committee).

To register, please use the sign-up form which you will find on the right-hand side of the webpage.

The seminar will take place online from 14:30 to 16:00 and will be conducted in English.
