A lecture by Yevgeniya Gaber, Non-resident fellow, Atlantic Council / University of Odesa
Followed by Q&A
Chair: Tom Røseth, Norwegian Defence University College
12 June 2023 13:00 – 14:00
In the fifteenth month of Russia’s aggressive war against Ukraine, its outcome remains largely unknown. While Ukraine has received unprecedented support from its Western allies and has proved successful in countering overwhelming Russian forces on the battle-field, the definition of the “victory” for Ukraine and “defeat” for Russia is still a debated question. The presentation will address the current state of play, discuss possible scenarios of the endgame in Ukraine and highlight major changes the war has caused in the European security landscape.
Dr. Yevgeniya Gaber is a Ukrainian foreign policy expert, non-resident Senior Fellow at the Atlantic Council and Center in Modern Turkish Studies, Carleton University (Canada).
Prior to this, she worked as a foreign policy advisor to the Prime Minister of Ukraine, deputy director of the Diplomatic Academy at the MFA of Ukraine and political officer in the Embassy of Ukraine in Ankara. Her research interests cover European and Black Sea regional security, with a particular focus on Ukraine, Russia and Turkey. Dr. Gaber has published numerous articles and delivered lectures in diplomatic and defence academies across Europe.
