ABOUT

Svitlana Bezchotnikova is a Professor of Social Communications and former Dean of the Faculty of Philology and Mass Communications at Mariupol State University, where she served from 1998 to 2023 before relocating to Kyiv in 2022. She holds a doctoral degree (2008) from Taras Shevchenko National University of Kyiv.

Her contemporary research work focuses on strategic communications, fact checking and media study. She has been actively involved in international academic cooperation as a project leader in Erasmus+ Capacity Building and U.S. Embassy Media Development Fund projects, combining theoretical approaches with practical innovations. Currently working with European Media Management Association (EMMA) and European Journalism Training Association (EJTA).

Since 2009, she has combined teaching with communication practice as Director of the Eurostudio TV and Radio Company, Chair of the Committee on Female Enterpeneurship Development at the Regional Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Ukraine, consultant and project manager in political communications during local elections, and member of the National Union of Journalists of Ukraine. She has successfully led six international grant projects supporting the development of education and science in Ukraine.

Her expertise extends to quality assurance and educational standards. She has served as an expert of the National Quality Assurance Agency, a member of the Scientific Council of the Ministry of Education and Science of Ukraine, and a co-author of the national standards for journalism education at Bachelor’s and Master’s levels.

In 2020, she was awarded the honorary title “Honored Worker of Education of Ukraine”, conferred by the Ministry of Education and Science and signed by President Volodymyr Zelensky.
