UKRAINETT+ Annual Conference (14 – 15 October)

The second UKRAINETT+ annual conference, entitled The War and Beyond: Perspectives on Ukrainian Culture and Society, will take place in Bergen 14 – 15 October 2025.

By the deadline for panel and paper proposals on 1 May 2025, the organizers received a high volume of sumbissions and faced a challenging task in selecting the papers and panels to be included in the conference programme.

The conference will feature two keynote lectures and five panel sessions with parallel presentations. A detailed programme will be published in early September.

Keynote speakers

Bohdana Neborak is a journalist, curator of cultural projects and editor at «The Ukrainians Media». Her presentation, titled Culture Bridges in Europe and Ukrainian Literature During Wartime: Identity, Resistance, and Cultural Dialogue, will explore how Ukrainian literature creates a space for discussing and reflecting on contemporary realities. Dr. Uilleam Blacker, Associate Professor of Ukrainian and East European Culture at UCL’s School of Slavonic and East European Studies, is also a translator of Ukrainian literature. His presentation, titled Living on the Edge: Ukraine, Overcoming Empire and Cultural Entanglements, explores Ukraine’s complex history as a source of creativity, resilience, and global cultural engagement.
