The Barnahus model can be described as an interdisciplinary approach to police-reported cases involving violence and abuse against children and vulnerable adults.
The model employs a two-pronged strategy, with the criminal justice track coordinating and facilitating matters related to the criminal case (including facilitated interviews and forensic examinations) and the support track ensuring that children and vulnerable adults receive appropriate follow-up and treatment. As the model combines various institutional logistics, it is often referred to as a hybrid model.
