ABOUT

Michael Gentile is professor of human geography at the University of Oslo, associate editor of Eurasian Geography and Economics, and co-founder of the Cities After Transition research network. He is an expert on Central and Eastern European urban affairs, focusing on Ukraine, and has a growing side interest in authoritarian regimes’ use of conspiracy theories to advance strategic objectives. Over the past few years, he has been PI of NFR-funded project “Ukrainian geopolitical fault-line cities: Urban identities, geopolitics and urban policy.” Recent journal publications include contributions to International AffairsPolitical GeographyGeopolitics and the International Journal of Urban and Regional Research.


RESEARCH INTERESTS

Cities, disinformation, conspiracy theories, Ukraine, Central and Eastern Europe.
