HROMADA conference and workshop in Riga

On 8–9 October, researchers and practitioners from the Nordic-Baltic countries and Ukraine gathered in Riga for the fourth annual HROMADA conference and workshop, hosted at the University of Latvia. Many UKRAINETT members were present and presented at the events.

The public conference, Strengthening Ukraine: Sharing Knowledge for a Sustainable Future, focused on three key topics: lessons from Ukrainian local preparedness for the Nordic-Baltic region, the resilience of Ukrainian universities, and the challenges of internal displacement and long-term integration into local communities. Several researchers from Norwegian institutions contributed to the programme.

The preceding workshop brought together HROMADA members for discussions within the network’s thematic working groups. A plenary session addressed the future of Ukraine studies in the Nordic-Baltic region and HROMADA’s role in strengthening research cooperation, including how to sustain the network’s activities beyond its current funding period.

HROMADA is a Nordic-Baltic knowledge network supporting research collaboration on Ukraine and its reconstruction, coordinated by the University of Agder and funded by NordForsk.
