Surveys Amongst Ukrainians in Norway

Researchers at NIBR are conducting a research project where we investigate how Ukrainian refugees experience their life in Norway. As part of the project, we conduct an annual survey to Ukrainians who fled to Norway after the Russian full-scale invasion, to get knowledge about their experiences. The questions regard the Ukrainians’ experience with Norwegian authorities (e.g., the police, UDI, IMDi, the municipality), how they obtain information about the system and their rights in Norway, their participation in the introduction programme and the labour market, union membership and political activities, and thoughts about the future. In addition, we ask about background characteristics, such as gender, age, level of education, place of residence, etc.

If you came to Norway because of the Russian invasion and are over 18 years, we hope you could use about 20-30 minutes to answer this survey (in English, Ukrainian or Russian). This is a unique opportunity to share your thoughts and experiences with Norwegian authorities – both positive and/or negative.

LINC (Linguistic Integration of Refugee Children and Their Families) is a research project at UiT The Arctic University of Norway (https://en.uit.no/project/linc). LINC investigates the linguistic integration of Ukrainian refugee families in Norway, Sweden, Estonia and Lithuania. The aim of the project is to produce research-based knowledge that can help make language training and other services better suited to refugees’ actual needs. The project is funded by NordForsk (project no. 191524) and approved by Sikt (reference no. 405995).

LINC is currently conducting an anonymous survey about refugees’ experiences with Norwegian language courses and language practice, their use of Norwegian in everyday life, digital translation tools, and language-related barriers when accessing services. Participation is voluntary, and the survey is available in Ukrainian and Russian.
