Much research has been conducted on the integration of Ukrainian refugees in Norway. Less is known about preconditions and motivations for voluntary return to Ukraine.
Researchers at the Norwegian Institute for Urban and Regional Research (NIBR), OsloMet, Jørn Holm-Hansen, Oleksandra Deineko, Marthe Handå Myhre, and Aadne Aasland, have released a new report titled “Why Return to Ukraine? An Analysis of Ukraine’s Evolving Return Policies and the Motivations of Refugees to Return.”
The report explores the factors that may influence Ukrainian refugees’ decisions to return, including national policies and practical measures for return currently in place in Ukraine. These are thoroughly presented in the report. In addition, individual motivations have been examined through interviews with Ukrainian refugees in Norway, as well as with those who have already returned.
