Three photojournalist students who graduated in June 2020 have received Fritt Ord Student Grant. All three will continue working on their individual photographic projects which they started and developed during the International Documentary Course in Nepal in February-March.

Director of Afghanistan Photojournalists Association, Farzana Wahidy is an award-winning photojournalist, who was the first woman photographer to work for international news agencies.

Dr. Saumava Mitra has done a unique work of research on Afghan photojournalists.

In this week’s four day session on Peace Journalism with Afghan editors and journalists, the highlight was Thursday, when we had invited Dr. Saumava Mitra from Dublin University as well as director of Afghanistan Photographers Association .

The conference ”Improving climate journalism, engaging the youth” was held online from OsloMet 8 – 9 October. The research group Media, Environment and Society at the Department of Journalism and Media Studies hosted the two day international web based conference on how to engage young people by improving the practices of climate journalism.

Nathalie Hyde-Clarke is the new leader of Department of journalism and media studies at the Faculty of social sciences at OsloMet.

She is originally from South Africa, but has lived in Finland the last six years, where she was Head of the Department of Culture and Media at Arcada University of Applied Sciences. She was also a Docent in Media and Communication at the University of Helsinki.

She started in her new job in Oslo 1 August, and headed her first staff meeting this week on zoom.
