During spring 2015, Nina Heidenstrøm has participated in three PhD courses at the University of Oslo, “Philosophy of Science”, “Research Ethics”, and “Texts in the field”. She has completed three essays which now have been accepted:
Bödvar Tomasson, University of Iceland ( co-author Harald Throne-Holst, SIFO) presented the paper Comparing assigned roles of households in the Nordic risk management plans at the 24th SRA-Europe Conference ‘Science, Policy and Society – Bridging the gap between risk and science‘ in Maastricht, Netherlands, June 15th-16th 2015, in the ‘Risk Communication’ session.
Congratulations to our HOMERISK partner Norwegian Museum of Science and Technology (Norsk teknisk museum) who this week won the international Mariano gago Ecsite award for their exhibition Ting. This noble international award confirms that the Norwegian Museum of Science and technology is of world class.
In the last week of May, PhD Student Nina Heidenstrøm and project manager Ardis Storm-Mathisen from SIFO visited Lærdal for the third time this spring to gather more knowledge on how households handled the electricity and ICT breakdown caused by the fire, and how they prepare for such breakdowns in everyday life. We conducted interviews with several of the affected households, as well as with relevant actors in the municipality and the businesses in Lærdal.

The Homerisk partners met in Reykjavik june 4th-5th. The agenda was set to share, compare and discuss preliminary findings in WP 1 (National risk regimes – the role of citizens), fieldwork in WP 2 (Actions of Households in concrete crisis) and to plan the upcoming survey, exhibition and other tasks in WP 3 (Household’s preparedness for crisis events).
We congratulate Grétar Már Pálsson – research assistant in the Icelandic Homerisk team – for having finalised and defended his Master thesis. Homerisk partner colleague Bjørn Karlsson has been his supervisor.
