Aino Ukkonen is a MASCOT PhD candidate. Her research focus is on assessing computational thinking, with an emphasis on formative assessment and computational thinking in mathematics. She is studying teachers and how they assess and give feedback related to computational thinking and programming. Aino’s research aim is to contribute to informing computational thinking assessment practices that support students’ learning in primary and secondary education.
Aino has a background in applied mathematics and is fascinated by how computational thinking, problem solving, mathematics and modeling are connected and how 21st century problem solving skills can be integrated in K-12 education.
In her PhD project Aino is collaborating with both Norwegian and Finnish teachers and is conducting research in both countries in collaboration with MASCOT.
