Critical literacy and notions of health

This part of the research focuses on pre-service teachers’ taken-for-granted views of health, and how these relate to different societal notions of health.

The research will be conducted at OsloMet’s five-year teacher education programme for the lower secondary level (GLU 5–10). This action research cycle begins to develop the new didactic approach based on an existing seminar (‘the health week’), where knowledge from WP1 and the foundations of the activist approach, in particular the use of visual methods, will be added to the seminar. All second-year pre-service teachers will be introduced to a cross-professional PHLS week in the fall semester where they collaborate with public health nurse students at OsloMet.
